Professionalism and ethics are obligations to our patients and their loved ones.  While we are occupied with upcoming exams and getting clinical requirements signed off, we still need to adhere to and become educated about what is expected of us as future and just healthcare providers.

Examples of Key, Current Issues:

  • Discrimination...against patients, colleagues, applicants

  • Treatments...balancing what the best plan is while keeping insurance plans in mind

  • a student and in practice or other professional atmosphere

  • Prescriptions...leading to drug addictions (i.e. opioids)

"Diversity is important in the field of dentistry so we can provide culturally competent care to our patients. Bringing people together from different backgrounds grants new perspectives and a richer life experience. Diversity is colorful, it's creative, and allows innovation to make us cognitively diverse as global citizens."

Satbir Khara, Arizona '19

"Cultural diversity is important to me because it reminds me that in our differences in culture and background lies the common ideality of the celebration of humanity. How wonderful it is to have something that makes us so unique, yet so united."

Asia Yip, Boston '19
